Transport

The time table for the train service is published here. National Rail Enquiries provide a live departure board for Freshford, which shows the expected arrival and departure times at the moment.

Freshford is served by the route 94 bus, which runs between Bath and Trowbridge, via Monkton Combe, Limpley Stoke, Freshford, Westwood, Wingfield, and Southwick. The timetable is published here. The service is operated by Libra Travel (01761 435529).

Starting on 1st July, an extra bus service - the No. 95 - will begin operating on a route between Limpley Stoke, Freshford and Bradford-on-Avon. Full details of this service are available here. This service will operate for a trial period of 6 months, after which the service will be re-evaluated. We encourage all residents to make use of this service during the trial period, to help secure a permanent service. The service is operated by Bodmans.

The nearest airport to Freshford is Bristol International, from which flight destinations include the UK and ROI, Europe, Africa and North America. Southampton Airport is also accessible from Freshford using the railway.

The Link is a charitable organisation for the villagers of Limpley Stoke and Freshford, which serves the community where and when public transport is unavailable or inconvenient.

The closest cycle link to Freshford is NCN4, which runs between south Wales and London. It as an eight mile journey into Bath following this route, which runs along the Kennet and Avon canal towpath. The Two Tunnels project aims to create an alternative route into Bath from the south through the railway tunnels which run under Combe Down.

Wiltshire County Council operate a Hopper service to Bath Royal United Hospital. This service operates door-to-door, but must be pre-booked at least two days in advance.

Village Shop/Post Office

The new Galleries shop opened for business on 4th August 2009.  The shop is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday, from 9 to 12.30 on Saturday and from 9 to 12 on Sunday.  The Post Office is open from 9am-1pm on Tuesdays and Fridays only, although stamps are available to buy at all times. Village Hall

Freshford Memorial Hall is available for anyone to hire in morning, afternoon or evening bookings. The main hall will seat 150 people, and is a little bigger than the size of a badminton court. There is a stage area at one end. The meeting room is approximately 7m x 5m. There is also a kitchen. The rooms may be hired individually, or on a whole-hall basis. Schools and Preschool

Freshford has its own primary school which serves the village and the surrounding area. More information about the school can be found on the Freshford School web site.The most recent Ofsted report for the school is available on the web.

A new Pre-school opened in Freshford in September 2009. It is based at Freshford Memorial Hall, and offers sessional day care for children aged between 3 and 5 years, during term times only.

The three closest state secondary schools are Ralph Allen School and Beechen Cliff School in Bath, and St Laurence School in Bradford-on-Avon. A complete list of nearby schools and childcare facilities is also published on the Ofsted website.
